Construction at the airport? No problem.

You can still arrive and depart at Hannover Airport even while we remodel the facility. The airport’s other terminals are handling all aviation operations while we modernize Terminal C. Arrivals and departures will not suffer at all during the project. You can also continue to reach us by car or by the S-Bahn commuter train.

An overview

You will find everything you need to know about ground transportation to and from the airport, arrivals and departures here.
Travel by commuter train

The S-Bahn station is located beneath Terminal C and remains in use for ground transportation to and from the airport. The train runs every 30 minutes between Hannover Central Train Station and Hannover Airport.

Schedule to the airport: S-Bahn line S 5 between 03:35 a.m. and 01:05 a.m. from Hannover Central Train Station

Schedule from the airport: S-Bahn line S 5 between 04:06 a.m. and 01:06 a.m. from Hannover Airport

For more schedule information, please contact DB Reise-Service at 0800 1507090 or visit the home page of Deutschen Bahn AG.
Travel by car

Travel by car to and from the airport is also not being affected by the construction work. From the A7 (Hamburg-Kassel) and A2 (Berlin-Dortmund) freeways, you can reach Hannover Airport by using the A352 link road or by taking the Langenhagen exit on the A2. Just follow the signs.

All parking garages and parking areas remain in service.

You will find an overview of all parking options and parking rates here.

Please remember that no parking is available in front of Terminal D, which is being temporarily used for aviation operations.
My way to the plane

The remodeling of Terminal C will not disrupt your travel plans.
You will go through security and board your plane in
  • Terminal A
  • Terminal B
  • and additionally Terminal D
Terminal D is located behind Terminal C. It was set up for use as a departure terminal during the remodeling work. Please follow the signs on site and use the map to gain your bearings.
If you have any questions, please contact our employees in the Airport Service Center (Terminal B/Arrival Level) or at the Terminal Service Points (Terminal A/B/D). Please remember that you may have to cover longer distances by foot as a result of the construction work and should plan to have a sufficient amount of time to reach your flight.

Arrival and pickup

During the remodeling project, Terminal C is closed for both airplane departures and arrivals. Passengers will be directed to
  • Terminal A
  • Terminal B
  • and Terminal D
as needed. Please check on this before you pick up family or friends after a flight.
Travel market at the airport

The travel market will remain open seven days a week during the remodeling project. It is located in the front section of Terminal C. By the way: Many travel agencies have already moved into modern facilities. Large glass fronts create a completely new and bright travel-assistance atmosphere.

Take your time and gain some inspiration: Customers who book a trip on site will receive a discount on parking. The rates in the parking garages will be reduced to €4 for four hours. That will give you ample time to make a sidetrip to the event exhibition World of Aviation.

When the work is complete, an airside connecting hall will link Terminals A through C.

A step towardy
the future

The conditions surrounding civil aviation have changed since our terminals were constructed. Providing the highest level of security, flexibility and smooth procedures is more important than ever before – and this job has to be accomplished amid a constantly rising number of passengers.

passengers in 2014

passengers in 2018

We had nearly 5.3 million passengers in 2014. By 2018, the total reached 6.3 million. It is an achievement that we are proud of – and that we want to continue. This is why we are remodeling Terminal C in a project that will be completed in the fall of 2019 and then will modernize Terminal B.
The aim of these projects is not just to prepare Hannover Airport for the future. We also want to provide you with more comfort. Our goal: to make your stay in our airport as pleasant as possible – by reducing waiting times, offering more service and increasing your ability to move about. You certainly will be able to enjoy a relaxed departure from Hannover during the remodeling project.

What’s going on behind the construction wall?

All about the construction site

From March on Termal D is open for passenger services and departures.
25. February 2019

The new connecting hall

The basic structure of the airside connecting hall between Terminals B and C is complete. We can now check off Milestone 2 of our remodeling project. The next step: the glass facade.
18. February 2019

Demolition work completed

The remodeling work at Terminal C is moving full speed ahead – and the first milestone has been achieved: The demolition work has been completed, and Terminal C has been gutted. We now have room to create something new.
1. February 2019

Exhibition on the construction wall

Construction work has been done for centuries. High into the sky and deep into the ground. By humans and by animals. This is reason enough to create an exhibition devoted to the “world of building.” Stroll through Terminal C and the connecting hall to Terminal B and gain some inspiration.
