Travel preparations

Are you a person with a disability and need assistance? Please contact your airline up to 48 hours prior to your flight. 

Announce your wheelchair

Please announce your wheelchair to your airline. Also state its dimensions, weight and battery specifications if applicable.

Companion Dogs

Have you got a companion dog? Please check the entry and quarantine regulations of your destination in good time prior to departure. Please keep your dog leashed at any time. 
 

Cardiac Pacemakers and Prostheses

Are you wearing prostheses or do you have a cardiac pacemaker? Then you can require the Federal Police Force to check you without a probe. To do so, please refer to the security staff. A certificate may facilitate the process of being checked.

Arriving at the airport & Parking

Arriving by car

The access to the terminal is barrier-free. In front of the entrances, there are spots for collecting and dropping off passengers. You may park there for this purpose. Please place your disability certificate ("G" or "aG") clearly visible inside your car. 

Accessible parking is available near the exits of every parking garage. The height limits are between 2 and 2.10 meters. For vehicles exceeding these limits, please use parking area P10.

Arriving by bus or metro (S-Bahn)

The way from the bus stop to the terminal buildings is barrier-free. We would also be happy to meet you at the bus stop. In order to do so, please notify the staff at the Airport Service Center of your approximate time of arrival: +49(0)511 977-1009.
The metro station (S-Bahn line S5) is located inside Terminal C. Elevators will take you up to the Arrivals and Departures level. We would be happy to meet you at the station. Please announce your arrival to the PRM Service prior to your arrival: PRM-Service@Hannover-Airport.de.

The Deutsche Bahn Mobility Aid Service can be booked free of charge under +49 (0)1805-159357 (€0,14/min. from a German landline telephone, cellphone max. €0,42/min.) or via www.bahn.de/handicap.

Getting around at the airport

Every important point at Hannover Airport is easily accessible. This includes elevators, WCs and restaurants. Just follow the signposted ways. 

Service Call Posts
Every terminal building is equipped with call points on its Arrivals and Departures level. You can recognize them by the wheelchair signs. If you would like to contact your airlines directly, please refer to the check-in staff. 

Blind and visually impaired passengers

For passengers with low vision there are sensoric strips on the floor which guide you from the entrances and exits straight to the service call posts.

Departure Service

Taking your wheelchair through the security check 

If you use your own wheelchair, a baggage tag will be fitted onto it at check-in. You may then proceed through the security check with your wheelchair. The Wheelchair Service Staff will meet you in the waiting loung about half an hour before departure and takes you and your company to the aircraft or your seat. 
 

Assistance at the security check

Would you like a member of our staff to assist you through the security check? Our staff would be pleased to meet you at one of the designated meeting points within the terminal builing. 

Arrival Service

Our staff would be happy to meet you at the aircraft or at your seat. If you travel with your own wheelchair, we are pleased to make it available to you right after disembarking. Our staff will then take you to the desired exit.
